Eastern-Rinjani Forest Management Unit


The working area of Western-Rinjani KPHL are streched about 37.063,67 Ha, appointed by the ordinance of the ministry of forestry no. 337/Menhut-VII/2009 June 15th 2009 consisted of Protected Forest (HL), 31.498,67 Ha, and production forest (HP), 5.565 Ha, including several forest group (KH) – KH. Rinjani, KH Sekaroh, KH. Gong, KH Petandakan, KH. Kedatu, KH. Rebanbela, KH. Gili Lawang, Gili Sulat and Petagan.

Eastern-Rinjani KPHL is rich on flora, eventhough they grow scattered. The diversity of its flora can be seen by various endemic grown on the zone.

Seen from the forest formation, Western-Rinjani KPHL forest is the representative of mountain forest, low altitude forest, and coastal forest with various plants, such as Kesambi, Rajumas, Mahoni, Bakau and several commercial kinds grown naturally. On the southern area, vegetation consisting this ecosystem is mainly plants which drop its foliage during dry seasons. The tree grown at the forest are Sengon (Paraserianthes falcataria), Mahoni/Mahogany (Switenia sp), Lamtoro, Jati/Teak (Tectona grandis), Jati Putih/White Teak (Gmelina arborea) dan Sonokeling/Rosewood (Dalbergia latifolia) and native plants like Asam (Tamarindus indicus), Kesambi (Schleicera oleosa), Walikukun (Schoutenia fruticosum), Kalibambang (Acer niveum) and etc.

The Western-Rinjani KPH is also the habitat of various animals from the primates, aves, to the mammals such as: Babi Hutan/Wild Boar (Sus scrofa), Kera abu-abu/grey apes (Macaca fascicularis), Lutung/Ape (Tracyphitecus auratus cristatus), Ganggarangan Kecil (Vivvericula indica), Trenggiling/Pangolin (Manis javanica), Musang Rinjani/Rinjani Weasel (Paradoxurus-hermaproditus rhindjanicus), Leleko/Congkok (Felis bengalensis javanensis), Rusa Timor/Timor Deer (Cervus timorensis floresiensis), Landak/Hedgehog (Hystrix javanica).
