Mount Rinjani National Park (TNGR) Forest Area

Rinjani Area has a complete set of forest types such as savannah, semi deciduous forest, lower montane evergreen forest and tropocal montane evergreen forest, making it a very rich and diversed zone. About 50% of forest of Mount Rinjani National Park are primary forest, while the rest of it consists of savannah (40%) and plantation (10%) (FAO 1981 in BPK Kupang, 1997).

Within TNGR area lays Segara Anak lake. There are two official routes–Senaru and Sembalun. Flora and fauna that can be found along the way are:

Flora : Are (Ficus racemosa), pakis pohon (Cathea contaminans), mangga gunung/mountain manggo (Daphniphyllum glaucescens Bl), slopan (Macaranga tanarius M.A), lemboke (Ficus fistulosa), kentok celeng (Neonauclea calycina), kesambian (Adinandra javanica Choisy), cemara gunung/mountain pine (Casuarina junghuhniana), semak (Hypericum lechenaltii), teh gunung/mountain tea (Rododendron), edelweiss (Anapalis sp) dll.

Fauna : Pitu/Lutung (Tracypetecus auratus), kera abu-abu/grey ape (Macaca fasicularis), perkici pelangi/ Rainbow Lorikeet (Trichoglossus haematodus), itik gunung/mountain duck (Annas super-celosa) and the endemic fauna of Mount Rinjani – Rinjani Weasel (Paradoxorus hemaproditus ridjanicus).
